The rumored ‘carOS’ will be more than just an expanded version of apple carPlay as it will be able to control all aspects of the car.

In simple words, the functions of the OS in the rumored Apple Car are said to range from lane control and driving features like pedestrian safety, air conditioning, and navigation.

If previous reports are to be believed, the ‘Apple Car’ project was approved back in 2014. Since then we have had several reports revealing the product’s launch timeline and features.

But most of them revolved around the hardware details. This is the first time any information has surfaced about the alleged Apple carOS in a report.

For those who don’t know, Tesla Cars OS Linux is a customized version of Ubuntu and it is not fully developed by the car company.

In addition, the report also claims that a Korean company will help Apple develop a self-driving sensor that will be part of the Domain Control Unit (DCU). This unit is responsible for handling the most demanding parts of car automation.

According to a previous report by known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, we might not be able to see the Apple Car until 2025. Kuo suggests that Apple needs to reorganize its team if it wants its first car to reach the production line in the next. three years.

Since 2014, the project has already faced several setbacks, including a change in leadership. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple’s vice president of technology, Kevin Lynch, was appointed the leader of the Apple Car project, which was reportedly named “Project Titan”.

For those who don’t know, Kevin Lynch has been at Apple since 2013 and is best known for his work on the Apple Watch.

In November last year, Gurman also suggested that Apple was increasing work on its car. He further explained that the company is aiming for a fully autonomous self-driving car that runs on electricity.

A production target of 2025 was also suggested by Gurman, but according to him, there may be setbacks in the time frame due to development challenges.
